The fall season is underway, but it’s not too late to embrace the season by embellishing your home with the colors and shapes that the season brings. Embrace nature’s transformation by creating a cozy home with these fall decorating ideas for every room in your house.

Wool Blanket Pouf

To add a seasonal touch to your living room, try this fun project. Begin by cutting a plaid wool blanket into six 16-inch squares. Then, topstitch the squares together to form a cube, leaving a 6-inch opening. Fill the cube with shredded memory foam filling and stitch it closed. Finally, add a decorative blanket stitch along the outer edges. Enjoy your new comfy footrest!

Plumed Centerpiece

To elevate your table arrangement, hollow out a tall gourd like a Hubbard squash. Slice a sliver off the bottom for stability. Insert damp floral foam and fill it with feathers, foliage, and flowers (roses and ranunculus work well). For festooned pumpkins, use hot-glue to attach long turkey or pheasant feathers. Lastly, adorn the larger pumpkin with wispy green chicken feathers around the crown.

Pumpkin Flower Tower

To create a stunning fall topiary, gather three white pumpkins that can be stacked easily. Remove the stems from the bottom and middle pumpkins. Take three wooden skewers and insert them into the bottom of the middle pumpkin. Pierce the skewers into the top of the bottom pumpkin to secure them together. Repeat this process with the top and middle pumpkins. Use long floral greening pins to attach small pieces of damp floral foam where the pumpkins meet. Finally, insert flowers such as dahlias, ranunculus, and roses, along with foliage and privet berries, around each tier.

Display Prized Collections

Bring out fall-themed plates and display them in a dark wood hutch. To achieve a more collected look, mix in pieces of white pottery and smoky glassware. For a no-fuss flower arrangement, layer feathers in a crock.

Hunt and Gather

On the mantel, sheaves of wheat in vases create a bold statement. Additionally, bowls filled with collected pinecones offer a simple and cost-free way to decorate for fall.

Place Pumpkins in Unexpected Places

Don’t overlook any part of your home this fall. Even a quiet kitchen corner can feel warm and inviting with a few white pumpkins. Extend this idea to your bathrooms and bedrooms too.

Spice up Your Fall Flower Display

When you’re out antiquing this season, make sure to keep an eye out for fall-colored vintage food tins. You can find these tins on vintage sites like Etsy and Chairish. If you come across taller tins, fill them with bright and voluminous buds, such as Sanguisorba cones, to create a beautiful centerpiece effortlessly. For smaller tins, opt for a more casual look with a looser arrangement.

Go Mad for Plaid

For a full seasonal experience, create an all-plaid-everything table setting. Start by layering mismatched plaid garlands on the spread, adding depth and texture. To reinforce the theme, use matching patterned napkins. To take it up a notch, place fabric-covered 3-inch embroidery hoops on top of each porcelain plate, which can also serve as place cards.
