Welcome to the Pow-wow: An Intertribal Pow-wow Experience

Pow-wows are vibrant celebrations that showcase the rich traditions and heritage of Tribal Nations and First Nations in North America. These events, held year-round, bring together communities to celebrate life, culture, and unity. Pow-wows feature a variety of elements including song, dance, music, food, and art. The Welcome to the Pow-wow exhibition, created in collaboration with the Bizhiki Culture and Dance Company, aims to educate visitors about the various aspects of pow-wows, such as drumming, dancing, and regalia.

The pow-wows showcase ornate and intricate regalia, accompanied by songs and drumming. Visitors can touch the furs, beads, and other materials used in creating the regalia and drums. These events are both competitive and cooperative, fostering a sense of community. They serve as a testament to the strength and vitality of modern Native Nations. Summer in the Schoolhouse: History

Travel back to the year 1890 and join us for a 19th century history lesson. Our knowledgeable school marm or master, straight from the past, will guide you through the class. Feel free to dress up in costumes and immerse yourself in the experience. The cost is $5 per child, and registration is required by July 26 at ccfpd.org. Please note that space is limited, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
