How to Score Great Deals on Appliances for Your Champaign County Home

Having good appliances in your home is not only essential for day to day living, but also if you plan to sell your home in Champaign County. Some buyers may want to bring their own appliances when they buy your home. But if you have good appliances already installed and they stay with the house, then that could be a good incentive for potential buyers.

If you want to get new, or at least newer appliances, what are some ways you can save money while getting quality items? Here are a few tips t help you get a good deal.

Buy at the right time

Big box stores always seem to be having some kind of sale. But if you haven't been researching for a while, you might not know when a deal is really a deal. As it happens, there are certain times of the year when you can get a better deal. The best time to buy home appliances is when stores need you more than you need a new home appliance, which usually happens in September, October, and January when manufacturers roll out new home appliance models. With refrigerators, new models come out in Spring. During these times, the stores will be getting rid of old models, and that means you get a good deal.

Other good times to buy are the last day of the month when stores are desperate to meet quotas and are more likely to haggle over prices. Also certain holidays like Labor Day, Memorial Day, President's Day, Black Thursday (Friday, Saturday) are when stores take advantage of your day off and slash prices.

Ask about price matching

Many stores will price match, such as Best Buy, Lowe's and Home Depot. You do have to make sure you match the product number exactly, or it's a no go. Best Buy also matches online prices with competitors like Amazon.

Check Champaign area outlet stores

There are a number of outlet stores in the Champaign-Urbana area where you can find some great discounts on quality appliances. These stores offer deals on refurbished or open-box items. If you don't need the absolute latest models or something that was a display, then this might be the ideal option for you.

Scratch and Dent

The idea of a "scratch and dent" product may sound rather unattractive, but it's actually a great way to get a brand-new appliance that might have a little blemish at a big savings. Google the term and see what comes up in Champaign County.

Shop Pre-Owned

If you look on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, you might just find a great appliance that someone is selling because they remodeled their kitchen, or they just wanted the latest model. If you check both of these sources, you will probably find more options, as different age groups seem to use each platform.

Ebay might be worth checking as long as your search in the Champaign County area, or even farther out if you're willing to travel a few more miles to get a great deal.

Some appliance repair shops may also have inventory to sell. It might be worth your time to check with with shops in the Champaign-Urbana area.

Great deals on appliances are just waiting for you. It may take some digging, but with all things of value, the harder you dig, the greater your haul.
