Educational review website Niche recently ranked 404 school districts within Illinois to find out which were the best of the best in 2017. The website looked at several key factors from the U.S. Department of Education and reviews from millions of Niche users. The factors looked at included academics, athletics, teacher quality, diversity, resources and facilities, administration, and more.

 

Once the results came in, 4 area school districts came in the top 85! 

 

#30 Mahomet-Seymour Community Unit School District 3 | Mahomet

 

This school district received an overall Niche grade of an A. It earned top grades for academics, teachers, and college readiness. It also ranked high in the areas of clubs and activities, administration, health and safety, sports, and food. Mahomet-Seymour Community Unit School District 3 was ranked as the 24th best district for athletes in Illinois!

 

#33 Monticello Community Unit School District 25 | Monticello

This school district received an overall Niche grade of an A. It earned top grades for academics, teachers, and health and safety. It also ranked high in the areas of clubs and activities, college readiness, and sports. Monticello Community Unit School District 25 was recognized for being the 20th Illinois school district with the best teachers!

 

Other area school districts that ranked high in our area include (#78) Urbana School District 116 | Urbana and (#85) Champaign Community Unit School District 4 | Champaign.

Noon Year's Eve

Party Like It’s 1900! New Year’s Day Noon Day Celebration!

Election Day, November 8th, is here! No matter which candidates you are voting for this year it is important to have your voice heard! It is one of the great freedoms that we get to enjoy in this country. There is still plenty of time to get to the polls today. All polls in Illinois will be open until 7:00 pm. As long as you are in line by that time, you will be allowed to vote. Make sure to bring a valid form of identification.

Flying the W in Champaign/Urbana?

After 71 years, the Chicago Cubs are headed back to the World Series! Around the Champaign/Urbana people are showing their support for our team! Will you be flying the W?

 

In their 145th season, the Chicago Cubs are returning to the championships! This storied season began on April 4, 2016 against the Los Angeles Angels and ended on October 2, 2016 against the Cincinnati Reds. The Cubs ended with the best record in Major League Baseball with a total of 103 wins! They won the National League Central title, winning by a total of 17.5 games. In the National League Championship Series, they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers after 6 games, securing their journey to the 2016 World Series.

 

The Chicago Cubs will be going head to head against the Cleveland Indians in the World Series. Here is the pending schedule of games on FOX so you do not miss out on any of the action!

It's MIDTOWN SUNDAZE in Champaign!

Enjoy some frightful fun with the whole family at the 2016 Midtown Sundaze: Halloween Extravaganza! Join the Champaign Center Partnership and area businesses on Sunday, October 23rd, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Boneyard Creek Second Street Basin in Champaign.

Celebrate Halloween early at this great FREE family event. Explore the Midtown Shops and the beautiful Boneyard Creek area at Midtown Sundaze. There are so many fun activities planned for everyone, including games and arts and crafts. Children will receive candy at each station throughout the park!

 

Starting at 2:00 pm, our favorite local storyteller Kathleen Brinkmann will be sharing spooky interactive stories to get you in the Halloween spirit. There also will be face painting by Wild Style Design.

 

Be sure to wear your best Halloween costume! The afternoon of fun will culminate in a kids’ costume contest. There are three categories for judging, including Most Creative, Spookiest, and Best Group costume. Prizes will be awards to the winner in each category! Parents and pets are encouraged to wear costumes too!
