Summertime means the return of fresh produce to Champaign/Urbana and the surrounding communities. There is a FARMER'S MARKET throughout the area almost every day of the week!! These great weekly events connect local farmers and artisans to the community, help economic development and promote a healthy lifestyle. Stop at any of these markets to stock up on fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy products, baked goods, flowers, handmade goods, and so much more!!!

Where: Parking Lot by Neil & Main in Downtown Champaign

Homer Farmer's Market

Sustainable Student Farm

When: 11:00 am to 5:00 pm (or when supplies run out)

Ride in the 1st Annual C-U Food Cruise this Saturday!

Celebrate National Bike Month and all the delicious cuisine Champaign/Urbana has to offer during the inaugural C-U Food Cruise! Grab your bike, helmet, and family and hit the road as you cruise along Champaign/Urbana tasting great bites at some of your favorite local establishments this Saturday, May 20th!

 

Everyone will ride within guided groups. No matter what your skill level or preference, there is a perfect tour for you! Select one of the following 7 tours to participate in for the C-U Food Cruise:

 

“SWEET” Tour | Champaign Family Friendly | 13.4 miles | 3 stops

“MILD” Tour | Family Friendly Beginner/Intermediate | 16.3 miles | 5 stops

“HONEY” Tour | Urbana Intermediate | 17.6 miles | 5 stops

“BUFFALO” Tour | Champaign Intermediate | 18 miles | 5 stops

“ZESTY” Tour | Urbana Advanced | 18.6 miles | 5 stops

“SPICY” Rider Tour | Champaign Advanced | 15.5 miles | 5 stops

“HOT” Tour | Experienced All Vendors | 28.5 miles | 8 stops

All groups should meet at Hessel Park (1401 Grandview Drive, Champaign) at 2:00 pm. Tours will leave at 2:30 pm. Each tour will last between 3.5 to 5 hours. For rides that will be out after sunset, a bicycle light is required. Every tour will end at Jarling’s Custard (309 West Kirby Avenue, Champaign).

The cost to participate in this fun event is $15 per person (ages 12 and up). Children under 12 can participate for free with a registered adult. In order to participate, you MUST register by midnight on Thursday, May 18th, HERE! Don’t miss out on all the fun!

Mother's Day can be celebrated no matter your age. Honor all mothers with this fun hat party. The best hat will win a special prize! There will also be plenty of rounds of bingo!

 

 

Mother's Day Weekend Special

Dates: Saturday, May 13th - Sunday, May 14th

Location: Monticello Railway Museum

Cost: FREE for moms! | $10 per adult | $6.00 per child (ages 2-12) | $8 per senior (ages 62 & up)

Take a relaxing vintage train ride through the area with mom.

 

Mother's Day Painting

Date: Saturday, May 13th

Time: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Location: Guido’s Bar & Grill (2 East Main Street, Champaign)

Cost: $35 per person

Create a beautiful painting with mom while you enjoy some delicious appetizers. There will also be great raffle prizes to win!

 

Mother's Day Picnic

Date: Sunday, May 14th

Time: 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Location: Riggs Beer Company (1901 South High Cross Road, Urbana)

Cost: FREE admission!

Bring the whole family out for this fun picnic. Moms can show off your best potato salad recipe! Gregory Street Catering will provide the rest!

Participating locations will be offering white wine samples and spring refreshments as you shop your way around Courthouse Square. Purchase tickets HERE now through Thursday, May 4th, at noon. Lincoln Street Market

Location: Downtown St. Joseph

Cost: FREE admission!

Head to beautiful downtown St. Joseph for this great outdoor market. There will be 50 vendors set up on 2 blocks of Lincoln Street. Find food products, antiques, housewares, repurposed items, handmade arts and crafts, and so much more. There will also be music and children activities between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm around Sherman Street. Come discover all that St. Joseph has to offer!

 

 

Fourth Annual Plant Sale

Dates: Saturday, May 6th - Sunday, May 7th

Times: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (daily)

Location: Allerton Park & Retreat Center (515 Old Timber Road, Monticello)

Cost: FREE admission!

Bring some spring beauty into your Champaign/Urbana home by stocking up on flowers at Allerton's annual Plant Sale! There will be Allerton Bluebells, annuals, arranged hanging baskets, herbs, perennials, and more. The sale will be located next to the Visitor Center. All proceeds benefit Allerton Park!
