Festive Holiday Events!

After enjoying your Thanksgiving feast with family and friends, it is time to get in the festive spirit! Kick off the holiday season throughout the Champaign/Urbana this weekend at two great community events! Jingle your way to fun!

 

Reds of Christmas 2017

Date: Friday, November 24th

Time: 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Location: Downtown Monticello

Celebrate the start of the holiday season with some good old fashioned fun in beautiful Monticello! Enjoy unique shopping, delicious treats, beautiful carols, and more while sampling red wine. Take a fun carriage ride and have your photo taken with Santa and his reindeers! Tickets must be purchased in advance online. The cost is $15 per person through November 22nd and will increase to $20 on November 23rd.  Purchase Tickets HERE! Christie Clinic 17th Annual Parade of Lights

Date: Saturday, November 25th

Time: 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Location: Downtown Champaign

Enjoy endless holiday fun at the 17th Annual Parade of Lights! See Santa on his sleigh along with all the festive floats, marching bands, and more as they head down Neil Street. Be sure to check out all the free activities taking place before and after the parade for even more celebrating!

Festival of Trees 2017

Come to one of Champaign-Urbana’s favorite holiday traditions this weekend…..the FESTIVAL OF TREES 2017!!! Join the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana for their 22nd annual event. Head to the Hilton Garden Inn & Conference Center (1501 South Neil Street, Champaign) this Saturday, November 18th (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) and

Sunday, November 19th (10:00 am – 3:00 pm) for some festive fun! Shop for great holiday gifts and enter win raffle and silent auction prizes. All proceeds from this event benefit families and children in the Champaign-Urbana area. Help support a great cause and celebrate the start of the holiday season!

Senior Citizens and Children (ages 4 to 12) | $3.00

DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE

Date: Friday, November 17th

Time: 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm AND 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Tickets are $25 per person — Includes dessert, dancing, raffle prizes and auction items! Admission for guests under 3 years old are included in the adult ticket price. Purchase tickets HERE!

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA & MRS. CLAUS

Date: Saturday, November 18th

Time: 8:30 am – 10:00 am

Tickets are $15 per person with free admission for children under 3 years old. Tickets include breakfast plus free admission to Festival of Trees public hours. Every family will have the opportunity to take their own photos with Santa & Mrs. Claus during the event, so bring your phones & cameras! Purchase tickets HERE!

FESTIVAL OF TREES GALA

Date: Saturday, November 18th

Time: 6:00 pm

Includes heavy appetizers, dessert, and open bar.  Space is limited, so purchase your tickets today to make sure you have a place at the premier event of the holiday season!

Trick or Treating Hours for Halloween 2017!

Halloween is here! Time to don your best costume, grab your goodie bag, and stock up on all the candy! Each of the communities in our area are having special trick or treating hours on Halloween night. Worried that won’t be enough candy?! Make sure everyone has a happy and safe Halloween by following these trick or treating safety tips!

  • All trick-or-treaters should walk in groups and not alone.

  • Young children should always be accompanied by their parents or another adult.

  • If you are going to be out after dark, make sure that everyone is visible in your group. Be sure to carry a flashlight. Wear light colored costumes or add reflective tape generously to costumes.

  • Costumes should fit properly to avoid any tripping hazards. Costumes should also not restrict vision.

  • Only walk while trick-or-treating. Stay on sidewalks whenever possible and only cross streets at designated crosswalks or intersections. Leave bicycles or skateboards at home.

  • Review with your children the importance of watching for traffic. If you are a motorist on Halloween night, be on the lookout for children.

  • Examine all of your children's candy before letting them eat any. Only keep candy that is wrapped or packaged.

Kickoff for this year’s Fighting Illini Football Season on September 1st might still seem like a long ways off for us in Champaign/Urbana but you can start gearing up for your hometown team next week!

 

 

Training camp for Illinois Football begins on Monday, July 31st. All practices are open to the public and FREE to attend. Head on down to the Campus Rec Fields to see this year’s team get in shape for the upcoming season. Click HERE for the full schedule.


 

Want to get to know the team better? Come to Movie Night at Memorial Stadium, hosted by Illini Athletics. Enjoy an evening with friends and family on Sunday, July 30th, on the field of Memorial Stadium (1402 South 1st Street). Get your favorite players’ autographs starting at 5:15 pm. Then find the perfect spot on the field or in the stands to enjoy a showing of Disney’s Moana on the stadium’s big screen at 6:15 pm. Admission this fun community event is FREE! Fans are encouraged to bring their own blanket and pack a picnic dinner for the event. There will be food and beverages available for purchase. The doors at Gate 24 will open at 5:00 pm for the event.
